Body of missing Bright man Alex Thompson found in forest

Victoria Police have confirmed the sad news that the body of missing 86-year-old man Alex Thompson has been found near his Bright home.

The body was located approximately 500m east of his Iarias Street home in the forest.

He was last seen wearing dark coloured pyjamas and work boots this morning, with locals raising concerns after one of the coldest late August nights in decades.

The exact cause of his death is yet to be established, but is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
