Body of missing mountain bike rider found at You Yangs

A mountain bike ride south-west of Melbourne has ended in tragedy for a Geelong West man, with search crews finding his body early on Tuesday morning.

The 55-year-old was reported missing at about 11pm on Monday night after he failed to return home from a ride in the You Yangs regional park.

Police found the man’s ute in Stockyard Carpark, with his lunch still inside.

Search and Rescue, the air wing and the SES all searched the You Yangs overnight before the man’s body was found around 4.15am.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
