‘Bit too close to home’: Bourke St hero caught in Las Ramblas horror
One of the first responders to the Melbourne’s Bourke St horror has been caught up in the terror attack at Barcelona.
MFB Commander Graeme O’Sullivan told Ross and John he was relaxing at his hotel near Las Ramblas while on holiday in Spain when the horror took place.
“I heard a loud rumbling sound and a thud of the vehicle running into pedestrians, and a short time after that the screams,” he said.
“We heard some gunshots a short time after that from a handgun.”

Mr O’Sullivan said the two men who had carried out the attack had got out of their vehicle and had started firing shots into the crowd.
He said the scene was “a bit too close to home”, and brought back his memories of being a first responder to the Bourke Street attack in Melbourne in January.
Graeme was one of the first responders to the Bourke St tragedy.
Now he’s at the centre of this Las Ramblas horror.
“It’s very similar.” https://t.co/clZQ1BHDoZ
