A teenage boy has been charged over the alleged bashing and robbery of two elderly men earlier this month.

The two men, aged 74 and 82, were allegedly robbed and assaulted in Donvale and Vermont South on 11 and 12 December.

Police say the 74-year-old was allegedly attacked from behind as he left a bus, and was punched in the face and chest, before the alleged offender ran off with the victim’s cash.

It is believed the man had travelled on the same train as the victim between Surrey Hills and Box Hill prior to following him on to the bus at Blackburn.

The 82-year-old man was also allegedly followed home, where police say he approached him from behind and threw him to the ground.

Again, the offender allegedly stole the man’s wallet and removed cash before the kicking the victim to the face and fleeing.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested today in Wagga Wagga and charged with two counts of robbery and assault-related offences.

He will appear at a children’s court.
