The state government’s treatment of Victorian farmers continues to be in the spotlight ahead of a planned protest in Ballarat later this week.

Farmers on Friday will protest the government’s proposed legislation, which could see them fined up to $12,000 if they refuse to let energy officials enter their properties.

“Farmers really are at breaking point with the way they’re being treated by this current government,” Jacqui Felgate said.

Protest organiser Rob Lockhart said the government’s conduct was severely affecting the mental health of many farmers.
