The British government cabinet has given the green light to the draft Brexit agreement after a five-hour debate.

It sets out how the so-called divorce will work in practice and what post-Brexit relations will look like.

The breakthrough is considered a win for Prime Minister Theresa May against hard-line Brexiteers.

Ms May believes her plan is would ensure a smooth transition, but opponents fear her plan leaves Britain beholden to EU law, without any rights.
