3AW’s thoughts and prayers are with Bruce Mansfield after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The Melbourne entertainment veteran has been on extended leave while overcoming deep vein thrombosis, which he developed while traveling overseas.

Further investigations led doctors to discover the cancer.

Bruce is not expected back behind the microphone while he undergoes treatment.

Doctor’s are optimistic the cancer was detected early and that Bruce will make a quick recovery.

‘So many people have had this and pulled through,’ he said.

Bruce spoke briefly with his long-time Nightline co-host Phil Brady as well as Simon Owens on Monday night, in which he detailed his recent health issues and proved his sense of humour is well and truly in tact!
