Bryce Gibbs reportedly wants to leave Carlton to play in Adelaide

Adelaide says Carlton star Bryce Gibbs wants to return to South Australia.

3AW Football expert Matthew Lloyd says the move makes sense for the 28-year-old.

It has been suggested that Gibbs wants to move back to his home state for family reasons, however Lloyd believes other factors are also involved in the potential move.

‘I just think the chance to get some success late in your career, maybe even get a contract extension on the back of it would be just as important,’ Lloyd said on Sports Today.

Despite being in premiership contention coming into the finals series, Adelaide bowed out in the semi-finals against the Swans.

Lloyd thinks they can go a step or two further next season if Gibbs enters the club.

‘They’re really one midfielder away from being in the Preliminary or Grand Final next year.’

The Crows dropped a bombshell on day one of the trade period, saying the former No.1 draft pick had signalled his intent to go home.

Gibbs has played 209 games for the Blues and has two years remaining on his contract with the Blues.
