Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers joined Neil Mitchell this morning to answer questions on the budget he handed down last night, which was the first federal Labor budget in almost a decade.

Neil Mitchell says four things stood out to him.

“One, reading between the lines, they will look at a cap on power prices,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“Two, there is a good chance of tax rises for what are deemed to be high income earners — I don’t know what high income earners are.

“Three, there will be more cuts.

“Four, to interpret the treasurer, I would say Victoria, probably Daniel Andrews … has signed off on the cuts to infrastructure such as that Monash-Caulfield rail link, such as the Wellington Road job, such as the Glenferrie Road level crossing.”
