Bureaucratic discretion has thrown holiday plans into disarray for former Melbourne star Brad Green and his two sons.

He wants to take his boys to Bali in January and had done all the right things, including paying for the express passport service, but one of his boys applications was successful and the other rejected.

It relates to the registration number on their mother’s death certificate.

One manager who inspected one application approved it, but another manager rejected the application of his other son.

“All you’re doing is trying to do the right things,” Green told Neil Mitchell.
