Burnley power station transformer explodes into flames

A ‘massive explosion’ which sparked a fire at the Burnley power station has been put out.

Peter was driving on the Monash when he heard a loud crack and saw flames and smoke in his rear-vision mirror.

‘There was a massive explosion,’ Peter told Tom Elliott on Tuesday.

The incident caused peak hour delays on the Alamein, Belgrave, Lilydale and Glen Waverley lines.
