Business is going ‘gangbusters’ according to a leading Australian business figure, who disagrees that consumer sentiment is low.

Gerry Harvey, executive chairman of Harvey Norman, said media outlets largely have it wrong and business isn’t all doom and gloom.

‘Bad news is always better news isn’t it?’ he told Ross and John.

Mr Harvey said his company was enjoying its best sales and profit figures since the Global Financial Crisis.

He said NSW was the strongest performing state in Australia, followed by Victoria.

‘Melbourne is just getting stronger by the day. It’s a pretty exciting place to be at the moment.’
