Business leaders slam Anthony Albanese for proposal worth ‘billions of dollars’
Business leaders say a public holiday if the Matildas win the World Cup is the last thing the economy needs following a proposal made by Anthony Albanese last night.
Chief executive officer of the Australian Industry Group, Innes Willox, says public holidays cost the economy “billions”.
“It might sound like a fun idea but it costs billions every day … there’s going to be no planning for it, disruptions to supply chains, penalty rates, put all that together at a time when the economy is doing it pretty tough, it’s probably about the last thing we need,” he told Neil Mitchell.
