Businesses furious at new truck tolls

The outrage is continuing following Citylink’s decision to increase truck tolls

Caller Charlie delivers packaging to farmers out in the Yarra Valley, Peninsula & Geelong area, with three trucks in his business.

He is now considering relocating his business to avoid the tolls.

‘It is a complete and utter rort…we have no choice,’ Charlie told Neil Mitchell.

‘We can’t pass those costs onto our customers.’

This follows transport magnate Lindsay Fox’s anger at the fee, which could force his trucks onto suburban streets.

The cost for a day pass on Citylink will increase from $12 to $26 come April 1.

Announced 18 months ago, the price hike will help Transurban cover the cost of the CityLink-Tulla widening project, due to be completed early next year.
