Busy night for fire crews

3AW News

A house has gone up in flames at Strathmerton.

Flames broke out in the home on Main Street at 5.30am, taking four crews about half an hour to bring the blaze under control.

It follows a busy night for fire crews, after fire tore through an abandoned gym at Doncaster.

Firefighters spent an hour and a half battling the blaze in the two-storey building with the cause still not known.

Meanwhile, a fire which sparked in a commercial laundry business in Bayswater just before 1am is not believed to be suspicious.
