The Les Twentyman Foundation is calling for urgent donations after a huge fire in Footscray destroyed thousands of books and Christmas presents to be donated to disadvantaged children.

Fire tore though the Little Saigon Shopping Centre yesterday devastating local business and the foundation.

Thousands of text books to help get children ready for school next year were lost in the fire.

The foundation is asking for donations to replace the gifts and school books.

3AW callers are getting behind the cause, with plenty already pledging their support.

Well-known Melbourne figure Susan Alberti donated $5000 this morning.

‘I don’t want those kids to go without,’ she told Tony Jones.

HOW TO DONATE

 – Cash donations can be made at www.ltfoundation.com.au, while material donations can be made by phoning the organisation on 9689 4800

– The Seddon Community Bank Branch, 90 Charles Street, is a collection point for donations including books and presents
