Calls for more diversity on Australian TV

Lisa Wilkinson’s departure from Today raises a pretty important question.

Who replaces her?

So far, Sylvia Jeffreys, Rebecca Maddern, and Georgie Gardner have been proposed.

But author and media presenter Jamila Rizvi says it’s a problem that they all “look incredibly similar”.

“I like and respect all three of those women,” Ms Rizvi told Tom Elliott.

“But they’re all white, blonde women. I think Australian media still has a real problem with whitewashing.

“Let’s make sure our television screens look like our streets.”
