Calls for more frequent public transport services to support the growing population in Melbourne
The growing population in Melbourne along with the increase in apartment buildings has seen the city’s public transport services struggle to keep up.
RMIT research assistant Steve Pemberton said apartments have grown by 88 per cent over the past 20 years, while public transport services have only grown by five per cent in the same timeframe.
“To make places more realistic as development opportunities, you probably want to have more frequent services,” Mr Pemberton told Jimmy Bartel and Mark Allen, filling in on 3AW Breakfast.
