Calls for parents in family court to have parenting skills ‘tested’
There is a proposal for mothers and fathers going through the family court to have their parenting skills “tested” by independent experts, outside the court.
Professor Darryl Higgins, Director of the Institute of Child Protection Studies, said the current system relied on which parent had the best lawyers and not what was best for the child.
“The current family law system puts too much emphasis on rights of parents,” he said.
