The Australian Services Union has called on Qantas to review its uniform requirements for flight attendants in an open letter to CEO Alan Joyce.

In the letter published on social media, the union says the month of March is a time to reconsider uniform requirements with events such as Mardi Gras and International Women’s Day approaching.

Former international flight attendant with Qantas Nicola Dale was in the industry for 35 years and supports the call.

“I think the call that they’ve put out is actually a really good one,” she told Neil Mitchell on 3AW Mornings.

“Because you’ve got to be with the times, and I think (CEO) Alan Joyce and (Qantas Loyalty CEO) Olivia Wirth .. they’re progressive and I think it’s inclusive.”
