There are calls for Victoria’s public transport system to be made completely free, calls Tom Elliott supports.
The state opposition said it would help bring Melbourne’s CBD back to life and also get people out of their cars and ease congestion on the roads.
Tony Morton, President of Public Transport Users’ Association, isn’t so sure.
“The thing with free public transport, in general, is that people find it doesn’t actually fix the things people think it will fix,” he said.
