Cameron Ling slams ‘absolute garbage’ performance from Gold Coast Suns, shares thoughts on Gary Ablett
By JAKE BOURKE
Cameron Ling says former teammate Gary Ablett Jnr must be questioning his decision to join the Gold Coast Suns.
The former Geelong captain has launched a scathing attack on the Suns, branding their performance against Greater Western Sydney as ‘absolute garbage.’
They lost by 102 points.
Ablett was well below his best during the clash, with some even questioning whether he wanted to be there.
The two-time Brownlow medallist controversially explored the possibility of a move back to the Cats over the summer.
‘Gary genuinely went there (Gold Coast) with the idea that he could take this team to a premiership,’ Ling explained on 3AW Football.
‘Now? He’d be thinking that’s a million miles away.
‘They are so far off it.
‘They were absolute garbage against the Giants.’
Ling said his good mate would be ‘getting to the point’ where he was questioning whether his decision to join the expansion club at the end of 2010 was the right one.
‘He’s setup financially, absolutely, and he enjoyed those first few years – but he craves success,’ Ling said.
‘He’s an unbelievable competitor.
‘He wants to win premierships and be back on the MCG on Grand Final day.
‘They (the Suns) are light years away from that.’
