A Campbellfield business owner says hoons are a major problem in the area, as police investigate a link between street racing on Lara Way and a double fatal on Wednesday.

Two people are dead after a ute, believed to involved in a street race, flipped off the Western Ring Road at more than 160km/h and burst into flames.

It’s understood the vehicle it was racing had been one of around 100 cars at an illegal hoon session on Lara Way before the smash.

John owns a business on Lara Way and told Neil Mitchell street racing was a massive problem.

‘It happens mostly on the weekends,’ he explained on 3AW Mornings.

‘There’s skid marks all over the road.

‘It’s just mayhem.

‘It doesn’t stop.’
