Driverless cars are clearly the way of the future, but there’s some things we still need answers for.

It’s a theoretical question now, but it won’t be in 15 years time… Can self-driving cars make ethical decisions?

If a driverless car had to make a decision between crashing the car into a tree, killing its passengers, or into a child running across the road, what would it do?

Tom Elliott spoke with David McCarthy from Mercedes-Benz who says that’s a long way off.

‘The car will detect the object and take immediate actions to slow and turn that car.’

‘We’re not going to program it to make a choice…’ – David told 3AW Drive.
