‘Can’t just rest on your laurels’: TJ blasts Melbourne council

Tony Jones has whacked the City of Melbourne council over the state of the CBD.

The Nine News sports presenter, who is filling in for Neil Mitchell on 3AW, aired concerns over graffiti, e-scooters and traffic management, and took aim at acting lord mayor Nicholas Reece for his comments on the AFL.

“We’re not just here to lay the boots in to the City of Melbourne for the sake of it but clearly you can’t just rest on your laurels and I think we might have done that,” he said.

“You can’t go around as a city councillor and beat your chest and go ‘How great is the AFL?’. That’s not your product, you’re not doing anything to make the AFL great.”
