Tony Jones cannot understand how two minors were granted bail after being charged following a dangerous police chase through the city’s northwest on Monday.

A a 16-year-old boy, two 15-year-old girls and a 14-year-old boy were all charged following the dramatic scenes, which ended in Sunbury.

“For the life of me I can’t understand why (two of the teenagers were bailed),” Tony Jones, filling in for Tom Elliott, said on 3AW Mornings.

“I’m continually mystified when I hear the word ‘bail’.”

Criminal Barrister Nick Pappas KC explained how bail is given to minors, saying “special matters” were taken into account before judgement was made.
