Carlton boss Steven Trigg defends decision to not trade Bryce Gibbs
By JAKE BOURKE
Carlton boss Steven Trigg admits he’d be ‘very surprised’ if Adelaide didn’t come knocking for Bryce Gibbs again at the end of the season.
Gibbs requested a move back to his home state during last year’s trade period, however, a deal was not done.
Trigg told 3AW Football it would have taken an ‘unbelievable’ offer for the Blues to even consider letting go of the contracted former No.1 draft pick.
‘Bryce had three years left on his contract, loves the Carlton footy club and loves living in Melbourne – there were some other circumstances surrounding it,’ the Carlton chief executive said on Sunday.
‘It would have had to have been an unbelievable deal.
‘Metaphorically, we dug the heels in and people can make of that what they will.
‘But on every layer I reflect on that and think it was the right decision to have made.’
