Carnegie mum left reeling over sky rail project after spending $140,000 on renovations

A music teacher who spent $141,000 renovating her Carnegie home says her property could be severely impacted by an imposing gantry for the sky rail project.

The controversial $1.6 billion project will see eight kilometres of elevated rail along the Pakenham-Cranbourne corridor.

Carnegie resident Catherine Pendelich said she would never have done the renovations had she known about the project and its possible impacts.

She said she had no idea what her property would be worth now.

‘That’s not actually the issue for me, Neil,’ she said.

‘I invested in my home, and in my family and it is my one asset and it’s something I have worked for for a very very long time.’
