Caroline Wilson says Collingwood needs to find a successor for Eddie McGuire
Caroline Wilson says Collingwood needs to come up with a presidential succession plan and fast after it was revealed Eddie McGuire would continue in the role until at least 2020.
She said the Pies risked falling behind.
‘Nobody is bigger than the footy club, like I always say,’ Caroline Wilson explained on Sportsday.
‘Twenty years is long enough.
‘All great football clubs do (have succession plans).
‘Look at the Swans, look at Hawthorn, look at Geelong ? they’ve all done it.’
Wilson said McGuire had been ‘mighty’ for the Pies over the years, but the time had come to move on.
She said the lack of an obvious replacement was proving to be a problem.
‘I spoke to a few people within the inner-sanctum at the first women’s game and the view of some senior Collingwood people that night ? Eddie wasn’t there, of course ? was that there is nobody else around at the moment who could do the job,’ Wilson said.
