Caroline Wilson says Neil Balme may leave Magpies after Gubby Allan promotion

Caroline Wilson has taken aim at Collingwood’s ‘extraordinary’ promotion of Graeme ‘Gubby’ Allan.

Allan will be Collingwood’s new Head of Football, having moved to the club from GWS earlier in the year.

The Pies said Allan was being brought in to oversee development of junior and women’s teams, but announced the switch late in the week.

The club had continually denied Allan would take on that role.

Wilson told 3AW Football she’s amazed by how the club had treated some key staff members, in particular Neil Balme and Derek Hine.

‘It has to be seen as a very cynical and cavalier treatment of certain people,’ Wilson said.

‘It seems extraordinary to me that it’s happened in the way it has.

‘I find it amazing that staff would be misled, and I wonder whether Neil Balme will stay at Collingwood.’
