Carrum Downs bushfire now being treated as suspicious
Wednesday’s Carrum Downs bushfire is now being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in a reserve off Paddington avenue around 3:15pm on Wednesday, which took crews two hours to bring under control.
Detective Sergeant Gary Richards told Mark Hawthorne they have ruled out electrical and other possible causes, and now believe it was deliberately lit.
Police have released images of a person they believe can assist with enquiries.
‘The CCTV footage depicts a male person running into the area at the time the fire started,’ Mr Richards said.
‘We’re not saying he’s involved, but he may have seen something or someone else.’
