Carrum Downs house burns down in wake of electrical storm

A Carrum Downs house has been destroyed by fire, several hours after an electrical storm hit the area.

Jane told 3AW Drive lightning had struck a tree in the backyard of the property on Monday night, sparking the fire.

The house caught fire on Tuesday.

“Unfortunately that house just burned down today,” Jane said.

“The fire brigade are saying there may have been a few embers in the roofline of the house, sadly.”
