Cats want more Simonds matches
Geelong is aiming for 11 home games at Simonds Stadium in a ‘wishlist’ they will send to the AFL, according to Dwayne Russell.
A point of discussion this week is the upcoming fixture against Richmond in round 21 which is expected to lock out tens of thousands of supporters.
However if the Cats get their way, the big Victorian teams will be playing in Geelong more often.
“They want some blockbusters,” Russell said.
“The government has spent a lot of money on the stadium, they’ve virtually said ‘hey we’ve put lights at the stadium, we’ve spent a fortune here, we want some big blockbuster events’.”
