Caulfield Cup favourite suffers injury, out of Spring Carnival

The favourite for this week’s Caulfield Cup and leading Melbourne Cup fancy is out of the Spring Carnival.

The Rumour File revealed on Tuesday morning that former Japanese star Admire Deus – now with Australian trainer Darren Weir – broke down on Tuesday morning.

That news has since been confirmed.

Admire Deus was a $6.50 favourite for the Caulfield Cup this week and was among the favourites for the Melbourne Cup.

One punter reportedly placed $20,000 on the horse to win the Caulfield Cup overnight.
