A Caulfield-South homeowner is at loggerheads with Glen Eira Council after putting pavers on the nature strip outside his house.

The Herald Sun reports the man has been ordered to pull up the crazy paving and plants, or be fined.

Planning expert Bill Kusznirczuk spoke with Ross and John.

He says homeowners do NOT own the nature strip and they should speak to their council BEFORE they do any work.

‘The short answer is the nature strip isn’t yours.’

‘The purpose of the nature strip is a formal part of the road reserve.’

‘If you start assuming that it is, that’s when you get into trouble.’ – Bill told 3AW Breakfast.
