Cayleb Hough’s body found in Bacchus Marsh mineshaft
The disappearance and suspected murder of missing teen Cayleb Hough has police baffled.
Remains found on March 10 in a shallow mineshaft at Bacchus Marsh have been identified as those of the 17-year-old.
He hadn’t been seen since leaving his Chelsea Heights home on December 20, with the car he was a passenger in found dumped at Crown Casino in mid-January.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Rhodes said while there were a number of leads, there was seemingly no rhyme or reason for his death.
‘He could have been your son, he could have been my son,’ Detective Rhodes told Tony Jones. ‘Just a normal seventeen-year-old kid.’
The homicide squad is leading the investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
