CBD fire: 12 fire trucks needed at Spencer Street fire

Black smoke was seen billowing from an apartment 29 floors above Spencer Street this afternoon.

Dozens of firefighters attended the unit fire opposite Southern Cross train station, which is now under control

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but it’s believed to have started inside the apartment.

Spencer Street was blocked to traffic.
