CBD jewellery store robbed in brazen fashion

Word on the street

A jewellery store in the Bourke Street mall has been robbed in incredibly brazen fashion.

3AW Drive has been told the Michael Hill store was hit by a thief on Tuesday afternoon.

The shop sits on the corner of Bourke and Swanston streets, in the heart of the CBD.

Maria told Tom Elliott her daughter-in-law worked at the store and rang her in hysterics.

“She said a bracelet had been stolen and then she couldn’t talk any more because she was so upset,” she explained.

The piece of jewellery is reportedly worth more than $7000.

Police are investigating.

The man responsible had a tanned complexion and was wearing a dark blue shirt with polka dots and a dark blue cap.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
