CCTV released following murder of taxi driver Mohamud Muketar in Fitzroy

More than a year on – police have released a digital image of a man suspected of murdering a taxi driver just metres from his Fitzroy home.

Mohamud Muketar had just finished his shift in his dad’s taxi on the night of April 20 last year, when he was attacked while walking to his family’s home near the Fitzroy Town Hall.

He was found critically injured at the corner of Condell and Napier streets just after 11.30pm, police and paramedics unable to revive him.

On Friday, a digital image was released of the suspected killer.

Described as caucasian, thought to be aged anywhere between 20 and 40-years-old, he fled on foot and carried a country road satchel.

Police also want to speak wth anyone who was in the area, including a cyclist and the driver of a 2014 white Toyota Yaris.
