The world is breathing a sigh of relief after a ceasefire was called in the simmering war between Israel and Iran.

Overnight (AEST), a US military base in Qatar was attacked by Iran, after Donald Trump opted to target nuclear bases outside of Tehran.

RMIT US foreign policy expert, Professor Aiden Warren, told Tom Elliott the pause in hostilities was good news just as tensions were beginning to escalate in the region.

“I think it’s massive news,” Professor Warren said on 3AW Mornings.

“It’s a good result so far to at least have this pause.”
