CFA boss calls for more volunteers ahead of a hot and dry forecasted summer

The Country Fire Authority has put the call out for more volunteers ahead of what’s expected to be a particularly hot and dry summer.

New data shows volunteer numbers have fallen to less than 29,000 compared with more than 38,000 in 2014.

CFA Chief Officer Jason Heffernan told 3AW Breakfast the latest recruitment strategy is aimed at non-traditional volunteers like women, migrants and students.
