Thoughtless thieves target CFA equipment while brigade attends fire
THE RUMOUR FILE
A Gippsland volunteer fire brigade has fallen victim to thoughtless thieves, who stole a piece of equipment while the brigade was attending a paddock fire.
The Rumour File heard the firefighters put an e-flare on the gate of the road to alert other appliances of the entry point, and while they were fighting the fire, someone stole the e-flare.
Yarragon Fire Brigade communications officer, Melinda Kemp told Ross and John the flare is a vital piece of equipment that was purchased with funds raised from the local town book fair.
“I think it’s about $300-$400,” Melinda said.
“We just want the person to come forward.
“Its like a beacon where you can put them on the road, it has red and blue flashing lights and you can put it on the road to alert drivers something is happening.
“One of our tankers was there, they went out to get more water and when they came back it was gone.”
