The Victorian government has announced duck hunting will go ahead in 2024.

In an announcement on Monday afternoon, state environment minister Steve Dimopoulos said this year’s season after describing it as a “legitimate activity’ amid parliamentary pushback.

CFMEU boss John Setka labelled the recent opposition to duck hunting as merely “wokey politics”.

“It’s been a hobby that’s been passed down from generations,” he told Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive.

“I think it’s almost this wokey politics that it’s a small minority always calling (to ban something) and people pandering to them.”
