The CFMEU says flying Palestinian flags at construction sites this weekend is “consistent with the union’s position on a ceasefire”, but stopped short of saying they have directly called for workers to fly the flag.

The union’s statement comes after a 3AW Drive Word On The Street, which suggested that the construction union had ordered workers to use the flags this weekend as a show of support for Palestine amid the current Israel-Hamas war.

“Flying these flags is consistent with the union’s position calling for an immediate ceasefire to protect all working class people in the Middle East,” the CFMEU statement issued to 3AW Drive on Friday read.
