‘Changing a culture’: Uni job ad calls for female only applicants

A job for an academic mathematician at Melbourne University will only accept female candidates.

The advertisement for the maths lecturer encourages “suitably qualified” women to apply.

Gender and feminist politics lecturer Dr Lauren Rosewarne told Neil Mitchell it was about “correcting” a culture rather than discriminating against men.

“I’m pro quotas for the same reason,” she said.

“You have to deliberately change a culture because it doesn’t happen naturally.”

Neil Mitchell questioned if it was tokenistic.
