Chaos on board: Hot air balloon crashes as three separate proposals occur in the air

A strange scene unfolded in Eltham on Friday morning involving a hot air balloon and three couples.

The hot air balloon made a dramatic emergency crash landing and had to be chainsawed out of a tree.

But as it turned out, three men proposed to their wives-to-be on board before the crash accursed.

Emma Govan, who was engaged on Friday’s hot air balloon ride, told Justin Smith it was a “lovely” day despite the unfortunate circumstances.

“I’ve still got a smile on my face,” she said.

“I had no idea (there were three proposals on board), it wasn’t until we got off that we realised.”

Peter Giannopoulos proposed to his fiance on the same ride and said despite crashing into a tree, the landing didn’t seem unusual.

“The pilot was calm and professional so it rubbed off on the rest of the crew,” he said.
