Chief racing steward Terry Bailey opened up to Tony Jones about the stress and ‘extraordinary’ response following a drive-by shooting at his house last week.

Speaking at Flemington with Tony Jones on 3AW, Bailey said he has been buoyed by the reaction of owners and racing insiders.

‘Unfortunately it takes times like this to understand how you really stand within the industry,’ he said.

‘It just helps all that bit more.’

He also explained what he’s looking for from jockeys in the Melbourne Cup today.
