Child falls into pool after wandering off during evacuation drill at childcare centre

A childcare centre has strengthened its evacuation procedures and appointed a quality and compliance manager after a child wandered off during a fire drill.

Making a splash told 3AW Breakfast earlier this week, the child wandered to a nearby swim school and fell into a pool, but was quickly rescued by an adult.

In a statement from AMIGA Montessori Maddingley, they confirmed the child never accessed any roads or external areas outside the complex, and was back with their group within minutes.
