Parents are being urged to kick their kids out of home by the time they turn 20, for their own sake. 

Life Skills coach Michelle Jones tells 3AW Breakfast letting adult children stay in the family home sends the message that they’re not capable of being independent.

She says staying home until 25 can also have a big impact on a person’s earning potential.

‘There is definite signs that they’re going to be earning less out there in the world,’ says Ms Jones.

‘They’re going to not be moving into some sort of career progression or career path where they feel they’ll be progressing.

‘And they are also limiting their ability to take on roles of say more leadership type roles.’
