China claims it may have detected alien message, then deletes report

China claimed to have picked up a message from an alien civilisation last night, before quickly deleting the report.

A report by the state-backed Science and Technology Daily said Beijing’s $180 million Sky Eye telescope had detected unusual electromagnetic signals which could be alien life.

It’s not clear why the report was removed from China’s Science and Technology Daily website.

Astronomer at the Australian National University, Dr Brad Tucker, says it’s possible the unusual signals picked up were radio interference.

“The worry is that frequencies they picked up are very near the same frequencies satellites broadcast in,” he told Ross and Russel.

“The problem with these is there’s another somewhat intelligent civilization we do know of, that is very loud, and that is humans.

“There’s radio telescopes in WA that have detected radio stations from LA bouncing off the moon!”
